December 10th Meeting Minutes:

What are the goals for us to be here?

  • Fundraising: OAS, Schools, Neighborhood

  • Beautification

  • Signs

  • Holding Community events

  • NCPC

  • Traffic Safety and Crime Reduction

  • Holiday light competitions

  • Volunteer drives

  • Civic involvement and education (e.g. in 2022 holding the school board and the council person debate, future: present ballot measures)

  • Presenting on new developments in neighborhood

 

Currently: we are not a not for profit but not tax deductible

  • We need a strong mission, messaging, and support a specific entity

 

Presbyterian Church looking to connect to the neighborhood

  • This week held a food drop off in partnership with City Team

 

Ideas:

  • An event calendar and plans

    • E.g. = June is Safety Month, and hold safety walks

    • Septed walks

    • Violence prevention: Katy has a contact - Peace Academies to be violence interrupters

  • Potluck idea:

    • 6-7pm potluck (supplement with Blackberry Bistro or Glenview Tacqueria or local restaurant)

    • 7-8pm speaker

    • Sign-up sheets / dessert potluck to start?

    • RSVP sheet

  • Earthquake and Wildfire talks (Community Emergency Response Team), landscaping wildfire safe design

  • Safety fair at church - booths

  • Hold a summit of leaders of how and where can we work together for neighborhood stewardship

    • League of women voters, PTAs (Glenview, Edna Brewer, Oakland High), Glenview Women's Group, Friends of Sausal Creek, Friends of Dimond Park, Presbyterian Church, St. Pauls, etc

  • 580 Truck Ban: hold an event to discuss and educate

Calendar:

  • Staffing table at the different events, sell shirts

 

How to handle inbounds:

  • Typically president responds to the inbounds, checks in with the group on thoughts and position

  • If the inbounds or community event falls in our brand and mission, then that will drive our response
